Welcome to Chimbu Provincial Government Website. The six Districts of Simbu are Chuave, Gumine, Karimui-Nomane, Kerowagi, Kundiawa Gembogl and Sina Sina Yongomugl. Their development status varies significantly in terms of MSS and economic conditions. T

Simbu has some good road network complemented by the Highlands Highway which connects it to other Highlands Provinces as well as the coastal towns of Lae and Madang. Whilst there is a degree of road connectivity to some of its Districts, Simbu is challenged by its rugged terrains, deteriorating infrastructure, insufficient bankable land, high transport costs, governance issues, and deteriorating law and order.

Provincial Government

The provincial government of Chimbu Province, located in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea. The Chimbu Provincial Assembly is the legislative body of the province. It comprises elected representatives known as Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs). The MPAs are elected by the eligible voters of Chimbu Province through a general election held every five years. The Provincial Assembly is responsible for making laws, approving the provincial budget, and representing the interests of the province. The Provincial Executive consists of the Governor and the Provincial Administrator. The Governor is the political head of the province and is elected by the Members of the Provincial Assembly. The Governor exercises executive powers and provides political leadership in the province. The Provincial Administrator, on the other hand, is the chief administrative officer and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the province.

It focuses on areas such as infrastructure development, education, healthcare, economic growth, and preserving the cultural heritage of the province. The government collaborates with national government bodies, development partners, and stakeholders to implement policies and programs that benefit the province and its communities.
